Working remotely has become the new normal for many professionals; however, working remotely can sometimes be a complex nature especially when it comes to dressing comfortable all while maintaining your professional image especially, if you are one that's prone to multiple meetings throughout the day and week. Many remote employees have hung up their Macy's and Brooks Brothers suits and ties for a more casual look from Banana Republic and even Nike. Department stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshall's have become the go-to place for not only affordable workwear but comfortability. You even have brands such as Banana Republic, J. Crew, Athleta and Aerie helping remote workers find essential wear to include Amazon. While working remotely, you want to make sure you look and feel good all the while staying productive. So, it's important that you find the right balance between traditional and remote attire to help you achieve what's attainable, comfortable and professional despite your working conditions.
How Do You Decide What to Wear
There's really no perfect answer but you want to wear what is most comfortable to you as well as knowing when to dress up and dress down depending on your company, industry and clients. Each person dresses differently, I've seen individuals wear polo shirts, button down shirts and even hoodies in meetings to where they may have been a presenter, and no one has said anything although I do work in technology where flexibility and personal choice as long as it falls under guidelines is key. Understanding your role within a company, your business area and your industry will help you determine what is best for you to wear specifically during the times of the weeks you have meetings. Any other time, I would encourage you to at least be presentable and respectful in your choice of attire as you never know if you'd have an impromptu video call.
